He was very knowledgeable in the field, and walked us through the solutions we need to take. Our treatment was carried out by Craig, who took special care of all household items, whilst carrying out the treatment. Craig made sure to explain the best methods of cleaning the treatment. Would highly recommend! Thank youPosted on Leah Warner-TedaldiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had Kai and Sam come to do isotherm insulation on our walls. They were great, really upbeat and friendly. They worked really hard and left the place so tidy. The work looks good so far! Review is done on the day of completion Update: we had a lot of trouble with this company in the end. The plastering work ended up needing to be redone. It took 6 weeks for it to be redone and we were left with a completely unusable room and really bad communication. There were so many times when I rang through to the switchboard and escalated matters for nothing to happen. We felt totally helpless and stranded. I have since tried to get through to their complaints team to no avail. We had the isotherm sheeting fixed which was then skimmed over the top. Once this had set you could quite easily push it in with your finger, denting it (see pic of finger dents). The company surveyor (who we asked to be sent round) said that this was expected and how the isotherm works (I would not recommend!) Luckily they sent a plasterer round to fix it, and he said the whole thing (isotherm and all) needed to be redone, and he redid it all. It now looks really good and doesn’t dent with your finger. TBH I wouldn’t recommend this company, I found them impossible to get in touch with and just gatekept at a switchboard and left us in a really vulnerable position and took 6 weeks to fix it.Posted on Monika NiebojTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Damp proofing prevents moisture from entering your home through the walls, floors or roof. It typically uses materials like membranes or sealants to stop issues such as rising damp, condensation or water intrusion.
For homeowners, effective damp proofing protects the building’s structure, helps prevent damage to plaster and timber, and reduces the risk of mould.

Rising Damp Solutions In Wigan
Rising damp is usually treated by installing a new silicone based damp proof course into the affected walls.
Although most properties across Wigan were built with a damp proof course, problems can still arise if it has deteriorated over time, was incorrectly installed, or if external ground levels have been raised and allow moisture to track above the original barrier.
All of our rising damp treatments are supported by a 25 year guarantee, giving homeowners in Wigan long term reassurance and dependable protection for their property.

This may include removing affected materials, installing a waterproof membrane to assist controlled drying, and addressing external defects such as cracked brickwork, damaged pointing or roofing faults.

What are the signs of damp in a Wigan home?
Common signs of damp include peeling wallpaper, bubbling paint, dark patches on walls, mould growth and a musty smell. In Wigan, we often see damp caused by older housing stock, high rainfall and poor ventilation. You may also notice tide marks or crumbling plaster at low level, which can indicate rising damp. If you spot any of these warning signs, we recommend booking a professional damp survey to identify the cause properly.
Do I need a damp proofing survey before starting work?
Yes, we always recommend a professional damp proofing survey before carrying out any remedial work. Damp can be caused by different issues including rising damp, penetrating damp or condensation. At Home Energy Save GB, we provide a free damp survey in Wigan to accurately diagnose the problem. This ensures you only pay for the treatment you genuinely need and that the root cause is addressed correctly.
Is damp common in homes in Wigan?
Damp is relatively common in Wigan, particularly in older terraced and semi detached properties. Ageing damp proof courses, solid brick walls and high external ground levels can all contribute. The Greater Manchester climate, with frequent rainfall and colder months, can also increase moisture related problems. The key is early identification and professional treatment to prevent long term structural damage or ongoing mould growth within the property.
How is rising damp treated?
We treat rising damp by installing a silicone based damp proof course into the affected walls. Any contaminated plaster is removed and replaced with specialist renovating plaster to prevent salt transfer. In some cases, we may recommend a cavity membrane system for additional moisture control. Every treatment we carry out in Wigan is designed to provide long term protection and is supported by a 25 year guarantee.
What is penetrating damp?
Penetrating damp occurs when water enters a property horizontally through walls, roofs or external defects. Cracked brickwork, damaged pointing, leaking gutters or faulty roofing are common causes in Wigan homes. Unlike rising damp, it can affect walls at any height. Our surveyors identify the source and recommend targeted repairs, along with internal remedial treatments where necessary to fully resolve the issue.
