Brilliant service, even helped me move a bed🙂Posted on Georgie AlexanderTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had our survey done, by Phil. He was very knowledgeable in the field, and walked us through the solutions we need to take. Our treatment was carried out by Craig, who took special care of all household items, whilst carrying out the treatment. Craig made sure to explain the best methods of cleaning the treatment. Would highly recommend! Thank youPosted on Leah Warner-TedaldiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had Kai and Sam come to do isotherm insulation on our walls. They were great, really upbeat and friendly. They worked really hard and left the place so tidy. The work looks good so far! Review is done on the day of completion Update: we had a lot of trouble with this company in the end. The plastering work ended up needing to be redone. It took 6 weeks for it to be redone and we were left with a completely unusable room and really bad communication. There were so many times when I rang through to the switchboard and escalated matters for nothing to happen. We felt totally helpless and stranded. I have since tried to get through to their complaints team to no avail. We had the isotherm sheeting fixed which was then skimmed over the top. Once this had set you could quite easily push it in with your finger, denting it (see pic of finger dents). The company surveyor (who we asked to be sent round) said that this was expected and how the isotherm works (I would not recommend!) Luckily they sent a plasterer round to fix it, and he said the whole thing (isotherm and all) needed to be redone, and he redid it all. It now looks really good and doesn’t dent with your finger. TBH I wouldn’t recommend this company, I found them impossible to get in touch with and just gatekept at a switchboard and left us in a really vulnerable position and took 6 weeks to fix it.Posted on Monika NiebojTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. They turned up at my property on time, did a very neat job, explained everything that they were going to do and cleaned up after they had finished.Posted on James WaltonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Larry was very professional! He is very knowledgeable and helped me diagnose my damp issue.
Damp in the Home is the Main Cause of Mould
Mould only develops where there is a consistent source of moisture within a property. In many homes across the Wirral, ongoing damp issues create the ideal conditions for mould spores to form and spread across walls, ceilings and soft furnishings. The peninsula’s coastal location brings regular rainfall, strong winds and periods of elevated humidity, all of which can contribute to increased moisture levels inside the home. Older properties in areas such as Birkenhead, Wallasey and Bebington can be particularly susceptible, especially where ventilation is limited, insulation is no longer effective or original building materials have begun to degrade over time.
Removing visible mould may improve how a room looks in the short term, but it does not address the underlying cause. In most cases, mould will return because the source of the damp has not been properly identified or treated. The most effective way to stop mould from coming back is to pinpoint the cause of excess moisture and carry out the correct remedial work to resolve the issue at its source.
Free Mould and Damp Survey on the Wirral
Concerned about mould or damp in your Wirral home? We offer a free mould and damp survey for homeowners across the Wirral and surrounding areas, including Birkenhead, Wallasey, Bebington and Heswall.
Our experienced surveyors carry out a detailed inspection of your property, using professional diagnostic equipment to identify the source of excess moisture and assess the extent of any mould growth present.
Common Types of Mould Found in Wirral Homes
Green Mould
Regularly forming on walls, soft furnishings and around window frames, this mould develops quickly in damp and humid conditions. It is commonly associated with condensation but may also appear where water ingress is present. Spores released into the air can impact indoor comfort and cleanliness.
This type of mould often spreads across porous surfaces if moisture remains unresolved. Its appearance usually highlights ventilation shortcomings or damp problems that should be addressed to protect the home.
White Mould
Often mistaken for salt deposits or dust, this mould grows in areas where moisture lingers on walls, timber or stored items. It is frequently linked to condensation problems and inadequate ventilation, especially in cupboards, lofts and unused rooms.
Although it may look less severe, it can spread across surfaces and indicate elevated humidity levels. Left untreated, it can affect building materials and signal underlying moisture issues that require professional investigation within the property.
Black Mould
Commonly developing on walls, ceilings and around windows, this mould thrives in environments where moisture is consistently present. Poor ventilation, high humidity and cold surfaces all contribute to its growth inside homes. It often appears in bathrooms, bedrooms and living spaces where airflow is limited.
Spores can become airborne and affect indoor air quality, particularly during colder months. Its presence usually indicates an ongoing condensation or damp issue that needs addressing to prevent repeated growth and further damage.
Is Mould Dangerous?
Mould developing on walls and within homes across the Wirral can present genuine health concerns, particularly where exposure continues over an extended period. Airborne spores can reduce indoor air quality and may contribute to symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, headaches or irritation of the eyes and throat. The risk is often higher in areas of the home where ventilation is limited and moisture levels remain consistently elevated, which can be more common in coastal properties exposed to damp air.
Certain individuals may be more sensitive to the effects of mould growth, including young children, older adults and those living with asthma or other respiratory conditions. In these situations, addressing damp and mould without delay is particularly important in order to maintain a healthier indoor living environment.

What causes mould to develop in homes across the Wirral?
Mould forms where there is excess moisture present over time. In Wirral homes, this is often linked to condensation, poor ventilation, penetrating damp or underlying structural issues. The coastal location can also contribute to higher humidity levels, particularly during colder months. Everyday activities such as cooking, showering and drying clothes indoors can increase moisture if ventilation is limited. At Home Energy Save GB, we carry out a full survey to identify the exact cause before recommending the most suitable treatment.
How do I know if I need professional mould removal?
If mould continues to return after cleaning, spreads across multiple areas or is accompanied by damp patches or a musty smell, it is likely that there is an underlying issue. Surface cleaning alone will not resolve the root cause. Many properties across the Wirral experience hidden moisture problems within walls or poorly ventilated spaces. Our team will assess the extent of the issue and determine whether professional mould removal and damp treatment is required to prevent it from coming back.
Is mould in my home dangerous to my health?
Mould can affect indoor air quality and may lead to symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, headaches and irritation of the eyes or throat. In Wirral homes where mould is left untreated, prolonged exposure can be more concerning for children, older adults and those with respiratory conditions. Addressing mould promptly is important for maintaining a healthy living environment. We focus on both removing visible mould and resolving the underlying moisture problem to reduce the risk of ongoing exposure.
Will mould come back after treatment?
Mould will only return if the source of moisture has not been properly resolved. At Home Energy Save GB, we do not just remove surface mould. We identify and treat the cause, whether that is condensation, ventilation issues or damp within the structure. Our approach is designed to provide a long term solution rather than a temporary fix. With the correct treatment and preventative measures in place, the likelihood of mould returning is significantly reduced.
What does a mould and damp survey involve?
Our survey includes a full inspection of your property using specialist diagnostic equipment to detect moisture levels and identify problem areas. We assess ventilation, insulation and any signs of damp that may be contributing to mould growth. In Wirral properties, we also consider external factors such as exposure to coastal weather. Once complete, we provide clear recommendations tailored to your home, ensuring you understand both the issue and the most effective solution.
